One of my favorite events of the year, The Met Gala, went down in New York last night. As always, it was a star studded event full of Fashion. And while everyone's a critic, and these people look far more fabulous than I could ever imagine for myself, I plan to rip them apart.
But let's start with some good news.
I loved how many-a-starlet showed up with designer "dates".
The best muses...
| Emma Stone (AKA Miss Queen Adorable), in Lanvin, with Alber Elbaz (AKA Professor Whimsy)
| Renée Zellweger, in Emilio Pucci, with Peter Dundas. This is one of those sexy dresses that has to be worn by an older woman with a great body. Nice work. |
| Rooney Mara, in Givenchy Haute Couture with Riccardo Tisci. !! One of my best dressed of the night. She kills it, he kills it. In Lisbeth Salander we trust.
Of course there were some actual couples to show up
Cutest couples...
| Judd Apetow and Lesie Mann in Nina Ricci. There's nothing funny about how chic they look. Sorry I just said that. |
| Tom Brady, in Tom Ford, with Gisele Bündchen, in Givenchy Haute Couture. Basically the definition of Power Couple. |
There were some deja-vu-y looks as well. So let's ask everyone's favorite question...
Who wore it better?
| Scarlett Johansson, in Dolce & Gabbana |
| Leighton Meester, in Marchesa |
Leigton wins this round, no question. She looks like a perfect Marchesa doll. Scarlett's hair looks a mess and that skirt is making me sad.
| Anja Rubik, in Anthony Vaccarello |
| Claire Danes, in J. Mendel |
Oh Miss Danes, I love not knowing what your pelvis looks like. Thank you for being so stunning. Also, the biggest problem that I have with Anja Rubik's look is why why WHY would you pair that dress with black shoes?
| Mia Wasikowska, in Prada |
| Kirsten Dunst, in Rodarte |
Neither.
We all make mistakes.
Worst dressed...
| Kate Upton, in Michael Kors. Uhggg go away, and take your fake chola eyebrows with you. |
| Kristin Wiig, in Stella McCartney. You are at the Met Gala, not your niece's christening. |
| Dakota Fanning, in Louis Vuitton. Wake me up when you get rid of your middle part and lavender gown. |
| Kristen Stewart, in Balenciaga. Oh I get it...you don't give a damn and that's supposed to be edgy and cool. Nope. |
| Beyoncé Knowles, in Givenchy Haute Couture. I'm sorry! I love you B, but I can't endorse this. |
| Elizabeth Banks, in Mary Katrantzou. Is she trying to pull a Rooney Mara by taking her latest character's style to the red carpet? I love Effie as much as the next Hunger Games fan but this eccentric gown just looks off. #PeplumProblems |
And now
BEST DRESSED!!!
In no particular order...
| Jessica Stam, in Dior. Fashion with a capitol F!!! |
| Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, in Burberry Prorsum. This is a SUPERMODEL. |
| Karolina Kurkova, in Rachel Zoe Collection. Yes! Yes! Yes! Head wrap! Yes! Glitter! Yes! Glam, showstopper, smoldering, classic! Yes! |
| Diane Kruger, in Prada. Doing Prada proud. Such a class act. |
| Camilla Belle, in Ralph Lauren.Who is this girl? Why do I keep seeing her? Who cares!?!? Chic. Chic. Chic. |
| China Chow, in Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture. Considering how avant garde China Chow could have gone this look is flawless |
| Marion Cotillard, in Dior. She is beautiful. Fact not opinion. |
And there you have it.
