Starting off 2012 right the Prada menswear line showed in January. Scattered throughout the show were a handful of celebrities, because let's face it, male models are actually the worst. Be it a publicity stunt or not I totally bought it. Closing the show were Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe three men who would be seemingly threatening to meet at the end of a darkened ally despite their plummeting catwalk based street-cred. At any rate the star-studded runway helped the world of menswear get some much deserved play.

Diane Kruger has this way of making all of my Fashion hopes and dreams come true. When she strutted around the Cannes Film Festival in this Dior mega-dress I lost my mind. I knew it! I knew that this silhouette couldn't be ignored. Broad hips, bold hips, can't loose.

So this just happened. Kanye West wore a couture Maison Martin Margiela crystal fencing mask proving once more that Fashion can be gender ambiguous. Go ahead Yeezy, you do you.

Speaking of masks...just kidding, I'm only paying attention to your jacket. As soon as the first trailer for The Dark Knight Rises came out I knew that Bane's jacket would change everything. If you look far enough back on my twitter account you will see my Nostradamus-ness in 140 characters or less. Everything about the villain styling in TDKR was perfect.

4 more years!! 2012 was a pivotal year for this country. We rallied together to keep Fashion in the White House. I wasn't emotionally prepared to see Michelle Obama's closet replaced with 7,000 Oscar de la Renta power suits. Luckily we can fear not, the campaign trail was just the warm up act.

2 big shifts happened this year. First Raf Simons took the vacant seat at Dior ushering in an aggressively new aesthetic. Trust me, I believe in his vision, I can see the trajectory of his career, and I can appreciate the House's decision. I just need to wrap my head around a Dior where the models have middle parts in their hair and a reasonable amount of makeup on their face. Second is Alexander Wang moving to Balenciaga. I can't really comment on this yet as nothing has premiered. However I anticipate this eagerly.

I have to give a shoutout to Moonrise Kingdom. I see the Wes Anderson aesthetic creeping in to Fashion and I'm fairly certain his most nostalgic film to date will serve a muse in seasons to come.

Not exclusive to 2012 but Suri Cruse and Shiloh Jolie Pitt continue to be unintentional style icons. It has become such an odd (creepy?) obsession of mine to follow these 2. They represent such opposite facets of Fashion and, I think, play a very important role in the way we look at how clothes play a function in culture and individuality.

Rooney Mara went to this year's Met Gala in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Not only did she look flawless she is continuing to cultivate her Lisbeth Salander meets real life beauty which is fantastic. Additionally it was announced that Rooney and Riccardo will be co-chairing next year's gala which will focus on Punk's influence on Fashion, making these 2 Fashion's the up and coming platonic "it" couple.

Why aren't we all still talking about the summer Resort Channel show? It. Was. Crazy. With M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls" blasting, dozens of pastel clad mini Marie Antoinettes with face tattoos, hot pink eyeliner, and platform sneakers sulked through the gardens of Versailles. I told you, crazy.
